Internship Opportunities at Freedom Support Services

At Freedom Support Services, we’re proud to support the next generation of mental health professionals. We offer internship opportunities for graduate students starting their practicums or internships in Counselor Education, Marriage & Family Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Social Work. Whether you're studying in a traditional, online, or hybrid program, we provide a rich, hands-on learning experience that helps you build the skills necessary for success in the field.

 

Our internship program is designed to give students real-world experience working with a diverse range of clients across Virginia, including individuals, couples, families, and groups. We are committed to fostering a supportive, collaborative environment where students can gain valuable clinical experience under the supervision of experienced professionals.

 

What We Offer Interns:
  • Supervision by licensed professionals with extensive experience in a variety of counseling fields  

  • Hands-on experience with clients in a private practice setting  

  • Opportunities to work with clients from diverse backgrounds in various therapy modalities  

  • Exposure to clinical documentation and ethical considerations  

  • A supportive learning environment that encourages growth and development  

  • The opportunity to work with students from a variety of programs, including Virginia Tech, Liberty University, Radford University, Malone College, and many others  

 

What We Look for in Interns:
  • Graduate students in Counselor Education, Marriage & Family Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Social Work programs  

  • A strong commitment to beginning residency full-time in Virginia immediately after graduation  

  • A commitment to serving the community through a private practice setting   

  • A commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality  

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
