Katelyn Lloyd

Counseling Intern

I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing issues relating to

sexuality, gender identity, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, grief, life transitions, depression, anxiety, and trauma. As a counselor, I enjoy working with clients who are seeking growth and healing and want to have more satisfying connections in their lives, as well as clients who are willing to put in the work to achieve these goals.

We all have our own unique paths to healing. Personal growth and progress toward our goals look different for everyone, and I believe there is no one “right” way to live and seek joy and fulfillment. It is my goal to meet clients where they are and empower them to forge their own path. While this kind of work comes with challenges, I believe we all have the capacity to care for ourselves and for others in a way that fosters healing.

I currently utilize Person-Centered techniques and a Relational Cultural Theory (RCT) approach in my counseling. I believe my relationship with my client is the most important factor in supporting positive change in my clients’ lives; by using our own relationship as an example/model, my clients will learn how to foster real connection both in and outside the counseling relationship.

I received my B.A. in Sociology from the University of Lynchburg in 2022 and am currently in my second and final year of Virginia Tech’s Counselor Education program. I originally have a background in behavioral health, and I primarily have experience counseling in outpatient settings.
