JOB BRIEF

This position provides face to face counseling to ages 5 and up with a primary focus on children ages 5-12 and their parents or guardians. In addition, the counselor will provide services to individuals, groups, adults, adolescents, and/or families. Freedom Support clinicians are responsible for maintaining your caseload and completing all required documentation as governed by insurance and company policy.

This position is best suited for a counselor who is humble, mature, self-directed, organized, professional, friendly, practices self-care and empathetic to client needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in face to face interactions as well as on social media.

  • Complete intake assessments which include documentation such as Mental Status Exams, Biopsychosocial, PHQ-9 or 2, GAD, CSSRS Risk Assessment, etc.

  • Maintain an average of 25+ billable hours per week.

  • Effectively create and carry out treatment plans using evidence-based practices.

  • Communicate with referral sources as well as Primary Care Physicians after initial intake

  • Complete progress notes within 24 hours of time of service.

  • Complete timesheet daily reflecting the billable hours worked.

  • Maintain client’s charts and keep complete and correct documentation.

  • Complete discharge summaries as required by insurance.

  • Develop rapport with clients in order to facilitate a healthy professional relationship.

  • Exercise sound clinical and professional judgment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling or related field from a CACREP Accredited Program (LPC, LPCC, CSW, LPA, LCSW, LMFT, etc.).

  • 3+ years of full-time work experience in a clinical setting and/or educational setting

  • 1+ year experience working with children

  • Fully licensed to practice or eligible for Residency in Virginia

  • Knowledge and clinical experience with children, teens, and/or adults with mental health issues (trauma, anxiety, transitional issues, parenting, depression, and mood disorders etc.)

  • Knowledge, clinical experience, and willingness to work with people from diverse communities related to race/ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, low socioeconomic status, ability, etc.

  • Must have knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of counseling services.

  • Must have knowledge of strategies for examining, applying and evaluating cognitive/behavioral therapy concepts. Additional skills required include thorough knowledge of the clinical aspects of the mental health field.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is approximately $60,000+/year for fully licensed counselors and $45,000+/year for Residents based on licensure level & target caseload. Payment is a percentage of what is being billed per case based on licensure status and years of experience. Medical and Dental insurance is provided along with PTO and bonuses available. Clinical supervision provided towards licensure in Virginia, if needed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All interested applicants will be asked to provide a diagnostic assessment, clinical on site as well as write a clinical note and treatment plan to demonstrate evidence of sound clinical skills. In addition, all applicants will be assessed for cultural competency.

Note: This position is for Christiansburg office, in-person.
